Meeting with Department of Justice, Civil Rights, USA on 27-Aug-2026
On Thursday, August 27, 2026, Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha was invited by the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, to a high level roundtable on invitation by Ms. Harmeet K. Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights. The meeting focused on “The Role of Interfaith Leaders and the U.S. Department of Justice in Protecting Houses of Worship and Combatting Hatred of People of Faith.”
Param Pujya Swami Sri Parmatmanandaji joined distinguished interfaith leaders in a panel discussion moderated by DOJ staff. The deliberations cantered on strengthening national strategies to safeguard houses of worship and advancing a firm “zero tolerance” approach against hatred directed at people of faith.
In his address, Swamiji, on behalf of Acharya Sabha, emphasised the timeless principle of Ahimsa (अहिंसा), underscoring that non violence must extend beyond physical harm to include emotional and spiritual injury. He highlighted that for any devotee, belonging to any tradition, faith and places of worship carry the deepest emotional investment. Therefore, attacks on such sacred spaces inflict profound wounds on the devotees. The Sabha’s position, articulated by Swamiji, was clear: society must adopt a Zero Tolerance policy toward such हिंसा (violence).
Following the session, Param Pujya Swamiji, standing for Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha, held discussions with Ms. Dhillon. She assured full support to safeguard the rights and dignity of Hindus, particularly as a minority community in the United States. This participation reaffirmed the Acharya Sabha’s commitment to interfaith harmony, protection of sacred institutions, and advocacy for the rights of Hindus worldwide.
